Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service LBG

Our aims and objectives

The Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service LBG is a registered Charity which was set up in Guernsey in 1998. It provides a free and confidential service to victims and witnesses of any crime, and their family and friends, regardless of when the crime occurred and whether or not it was reported. Trained volunteers provide emotional support, practical help and information.

The Witness Service operates from a self-contained suite within the Royal Court building where volunteers support victims, witnesses, and their family and friends, before, during and after giving evidence in Court. The service also offers pre trial visits to the courtroom in order to explain court procedure and to allay any fears witnesses may have about giving evidence.

Organisation and management

The Service is overseen by a local management committee and run by a 4 members of staff. In addition, 15 invaluable volunteers provide support to the majority of service users.
